Six spunky ladies comprise the Fly Khicks, who hail from sunny Miami. While they each come from different countries, they share the fact that they’ve all been former dancers of the NBA’s Miami Heat. For three consecutive years, they won the professional basketball league’s “Most Popular Dance Team” title. Now that that stage of their lives is done, these girls want a bigger opportunity. Thus, they formed the Fly Khicks.
Crew leader Traci describes their moves as “big and up-tempo, but also smooth and sassy.” It seems as though they can do everything from hip-hop to jazz to contemporary, as well as African and Latin. Not afraid to push the boundaries, the versatile team enjoys dancing to the music of o Ne-Yo, Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown, Beyonce, Missy Elliott, Trick Daddy, Ludacris, Lil Wayne, M.I.A., and Janet Jackson. The Fly Khicks consist of Tracy Young aka Mama Khicks, Karelix Alicea aka Sassy Khicks, Michelle Burgos aka Cheena Khicks, Gina Francis aka Mini Khicks, Christina Pagon aka Trendy Khicks and Wendy Simmons aka Real Khicks.
Admitting that they challenge each other to do even better, the Fly Khicks are facing one tough contest as they become one of the crews competing for the title of America’s Best Dance Crew. Joining eight other teams, the group is all set to show off their amazing and intricate moves in front of the whole country. With host Mario Lopez and backstage correspondent Layla Kayleigh, the crews will have to impress judges JC Chasez, Lil Mama and choreographer Shane Sparks. Encountering challenges week after week, each team battles for the $100,000 cash prize, but more for the pride of being the nation’s best.
