Emilia Fox was born on July 31, 1974 in London, England to Edward Fox and Joanna David, who are both actors. She attended both Bryanston School and Oxford University. She speaks French and German, plays the cello and the piano and is also an expert kickboxer. She is also an agnostic who has given up smoking and drinking during the early parts of 2000. She met her husband, Jared Harris, son of legendary actor, the late Richard Harris, in 2003, when they starred together in a failed West-end production. They wed two years later in July 2005. She had a relationship with comedian Vic Reeves.
In 2004, Fox took over the lead as pathologist Nikki Alexander in the BBC series Silent Witness after Amanda Burton left the show. Nikki Alexander is an attractive, bright, young pathologist. Fox also appeared as the second Mrs. de Winter in the 1997 television production of Rebecca, a role her mother had played back in 1978. In 1995, she made her first appearance as the sister of Mr. Darcy (Colin Firth) in the television adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Five years later in 2000, she portrayed Jeannie Hurst in the remake of Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased), while she played Jane Seymour in a King Henry VIII biopic. Meanwhile, she bagged the title role in Katherine Howard at the Chichester Festival Thaeter in 1998. She also appeared in movies, such as Keeping Mum in 2005 and Flashbacks of a Fool in 2008 with James Bond star Daniel Craig. She has another film, called Cashback in 2006.
Most notably, Fox became part of the 2004 film The Life and Death of Peter Sellers with Geoffrey Rush in the lead role. Most of her scenes was deleted, however, and can only be seen on the special features of the movie’s DVD release.
