Born on August 2, 1977 in Glendale, California, Edward Furlong is an actor best and perhaps singularly known to audiences as John Connor in Terminator 2: Judgment Day. The son of a youth center worker and unknown father, he is of Mexican and possibly Native American and Russian descent. He moved in with his aunt and uncle in 1990, and the two gained legal guardianship of Furlong in September 1991 but subsequently lost it to his mother two years after. He attended Charles W. Eliot Middle School in Altadena, and South Pasadena Junior High School in South Pasadena in Califronia. He married actress Rachael Bella (The Ring) in 2006.
Furlong’s debut with Terminator 2: Judgment Day earned him an MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Role and a Saturn Award for best young actor. He was discovered for the part by the casting director while visiting Pasadena Boys and Girls Club. Substance abuse, however, allegedly caused him the reprising of the role for Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. This role was followed by some moderately successful movies, both independently produced and big-budget, such as Before and After, with Meryl Streep and Liam Neeson, Little Odessa with Tim Roth and Pet Sematary Two with Anthony Edwards.
Meanwhile, in 1998, Furlong starred in American History X with Edward Norton. This was followed by the film Detroit Rock City and a Metallica music video for The Unnamed Feeling. He also played the lead in the fourth installment in The Crow series called The Crow: Wicked Prayer. This, he starred with David Boreanaz, Tara Reid, Dennis Hopper, and Macy Gray. He guest-starred on two episodes of CSI: NY.
Edward Furlong also dabbled in music, releasing an album in Japan called Hold on Tight. The recorded included the The Doors cover of People Are Strange. Other than this, he has also appeared in various advertising campaigns for Japanese products.
