Biography

Born on October 26, 1954 in Highland Park, Illinois, Donald Warren Moffett or D.W. for short, is a stage and film actor who appeared on numerous productions since 1985. He was raised in Wilmette and educated in Stanford University, majoring in Political Science. He joined the St. Nicolas Theater Company soon after he worked as an investment banker and afterwards put up his own theater company named Remains Theater. His stage work includes roles in a Los Angeles production of Jon Robin Baitz's The End of the Day. He has also appeared in Broadway, getting a role in The Real Thing.

D.W. Moffett went on to pursue film and television acting after his success on the stage. He went with John Malkovich to perform in Balm In Giliad in New York City, and later became Brad Davis’ co-star in Larry Kramer’s The Normal Heart. This earned Moffett critical acclaim and several more projects. He acted with Matt Dillon in Boys of Winter as well. Later on, he was seen on stage again, at the Old Vic Theater with Kevin Spacey. The both of them starred on a production of The Philadelphia Story.

Memorable film roles of Moffett’s include Bernardo Bertolucci’s Stealing Beauty. He later won a Screen Actors Guild Award for his role in Steven Soderbergh’s Traffic, released in 2000. Moffett’s appearances are common in television shows like The Equalizer, Miami Vice, The Oldest Rookie, Midnight Caller, Tales from the Crypt, The Outer Limits, and The Naked Truth. He was later seen on Crossing Jordan, CSI: Miami, Without a Trace, Nip/Tuck, Ghost Whisperer and Numb3rs. Despite all his appearances, he became well known for playing Bob Hardy on the CW series Hidden Palms, and as Dr. Danny Clarke in Life is Wild. In 2008, Moffett landed roles in Visioneers and Manure, as well as on bgFATLdy. Soon, he found himself cast on the 2011 ABC Family drama Switched at Birth. He also starred in Happily Divorced, starring Fran Drescher.
