Biography

Born Donald Drake on September 29, 1953 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Drake Hogestn is an actor. He was educated through a baseball scholarship at the University of South Florida majoring in pre-dentistry. He, however, graduated with a double-major in microbiology and applied sciences. He played baseball professionally for the New York Yankees until he was injured in 1978. After this he turned to acting.

He entered a talent search with Columbia Pictures alongside 75,000 people. He was among the 30 selected and was cast in a starring role on the primetime series Seven Brides for Seven Brothers in 1982. He got into a few minor roles before hitting it big, after landing a mysterious role in Days of our Lives as John Black . This popular role made Hogestyn a household name, and despite his character being reconned to accommodate a returning cast member, he remained one of the show’s most popular characters. Although his role was killed on 2007, fans speculate that he is too popular to be discarded totally. Also, Days of our Lives does have a tendency of killing characters then resurrecting them back.

For his role in Days, Drake Hogestyn was twice named Hottest Male Star by Soap Opera Digest in 1994 and 1995, plus a couple of nominations. As part of a love team, in 2005 he and Deidre Hall won Favorite Couple by the same body. At about the same time he started filming Days, he married his childhood sweetheart Victoria Post, with whom she has two children with, Whitney and Alexandra.
