Derek Arteta became known as "The Risktaker" during his time on The Apprentice. A movie studio Vice President, he grew up in Covina, CA and attended the University of California, Los Angeles where he graduated cum laude with a B.A. in psychology and an emphasis in business administration. He also attended the University of California, Hastings College of Law in San Francisco where he graduated cum laude as well. After some time, he became the president of business and legal affairs for a movie studio where he negotiates deals and provides legal counsel.
He later took a turn as a contestant on The Apprentice Season 6. There, he claimed that he should be the next Apprentice because "I'm not afraid to take risks and make my voice heard, and while I generally respect boundaries, I'm never afraid to overstep them for the sake of advancement of a good idea." He was fired on the seventh episode of the show because his behavior during the task wasn't pleasing to Donald Trump.
