American actor Dennis Haskins was born on November 18, 1950 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He is most well-known for his portrayal of principal Richard Belding in the television comedy series Saved by the Bell and its spin-off Saved by the Bell: The New Class, though he has stated that he had troubles with getting work later on due to being typecast for the character. After studying at Notre Dame High School and the University of Tennessee, he worked initially as a concert promoter before pursuing a career in acting, working with musical talents such as Tom Jones and Earth, Wind and Fire for their performances.
Principal Richard Belding is played by Dennis Haskins in the classic NBC television comedy series Saved by the Bell. He is the principal of Bayside High School, providing a somewhat meddlesome yet genial authority figure as a foil against the antics of the students. He often uses his catchphrase “Hey hey hey, what is going on here?” when he shows up, and has an oddly irritating high-pitched tone when he laughs. He often runs into Zack and his friends, and while Zack often pushes his luck and tests his wits against the principal, Belding actually shows genuine concern for the students.
