Originally from Miami, Florida, Dee’s career in hairstyling started roughly ten years ago. Initially working as a computer graphic artist for Paul Mitchell Distributor in Miami, Dee became the driving force behind John Paul Mitchell Systems, which is tasked to teach and coach other Paul Mitchell educators on the latest trends in hairstyling. She owns and operates an education service called Hair by Dee, which provides special one-on-one skills and personal training to those aspiring to work in salons and even those who are already working in one.
Dee is also the Art Director and a hair designer for Peter of London Salon and Spa, located in Miami. In that capacity, Dee runs the several aspects of the business, such as education, structure, marketing and promotion of the salon. She has also been featured in Cut and Dry Magazine and Modern Salon. Despite the hectic schedule and the impressive credentials, Dee says the thing that makes her happy the most is seeing people smile.
Dee is one of the contestants in Bravo TV’s Shear Genius. This second season of the reality show features 12 gifted hairstylists from all over the country who vie for the ultimate title of ”Shear Genius.” It also looks at what happens behind the scenes of competitive high-end hair styling.
