Australian film, stage and television actor David Wenham was born on September 21, 1965 in Marrickville, New South Wales, Australia. He attended the Christian Brothers’ High School, Lewisham.
David Wenham has been cast in several television movies. One of these was his AFI award-winning role in Simone de Beauvoir’s Babies, in 1996. He has also appeared as diver Dan Della Bosca in the highly successful ABC series SeaChange. Because of this, he was voted Australia’s “sexiest man alive.” He is also signed to Storm Model Management in London. His Australian films are more successful than the ones he had abroad. In 1998, he starred in the critically-acclaimed The Boys, which was based on a play by the Griffith Theatre Company. He also played the title role in Molokai: The Story of Father Damien in 1999. He also had the lead role, portraying Jim Doyle in the 2001 thriller drama The Bank, as well as in Gettin’ Square.
David Wenham rose to international fame playing supporting roles in Hollywood films. He portrayed the character Friar Carl in Van Helsing, alongside Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale.
