David Ramsey decided to pursue acting after appearing in a church play. After graduating from Wayne State University, he made his acting debut in the 1987 flick Scared Stiff, but slowly rose to prominence only in the mid-1990s. Early films include The Nutty Professor, Con Air and A Very Brady Sequel. He later appeared in Pay It Forward, The Death and Life of Bobby Z, and Mother and Child.
Ramsey's first regular television role was in the UPN sitcom The Good News. He held recurring roles in shows such as Huff, Ghost Whisperer and Wildfire. In 2008 he joined the cast of Showtime's Dexter as police informant Anton Briggs. He was also part of the short-lived NBC series Outlaw.
