A 24-year-old hailing from Phoenix, Arizona, David Hernandez auditioned for American Idol in San Diego. He has been singing and performing since he was very young, and had formal voice training. He looks up to Stevie Wonder as one of his favorite artists and biggest influences. He impressed America with his rendition of "Love the One You're With," but was voted out of the competition come March 13.
"I think there's another door that's going to open," David says about his departure from American Idol. "There's something coming up for me that's going to be big."
Big dream, he does as he already plans to have a record album by next year. The hopeful said, "I'd like to have a major record deal and I'd like to have my album out in the next year. I'd like to do something with Alicia Keys and [producer] David Foster. This can't be the end for me."
As for his reaction to the reports that circulated about him being a former male stripper, David said, "To be honest, everyone has skeletons in their closet. I'm not ashamed of anything in my past. I am fully aware of people's opinions on stuff like that. The only person I have to answer to is myself and God."
