Born David Lee Coulier on September 21, 1959 in St. Clair Shores, Michigan, Dave Coulier
is best known for his irrepressible role as Joey on the ABC comedy Full House
. He got an early start in his stand-up career by performing during high school when he would impersonate the principal over the PA system. Since then, he has shown great talent in mimicking celebrities and even cartoon characters, which makes him perfect for voice acting.
As such, Coulier has done extensive voice work for shows that include Extreme Ghostbusters, The Real Ghostbusters, Muppet Babies, Scooby and Scrappy Doo, The Jetsons, and Teen Titans. He likewise has some screen credits to his name, appearing in Disney originals The Thirteenth Year and Even Stevens. More recently, he has been running a youth-oriented comedy website called cleanguys.tv. He is also an avid fan of professional ice hockey team Detroit Red Wings, which figured prominently during his stint in Full House.
Regarding his personal life, Coulier is perhaps most famous for suspicions of being the first lover of singer Alanis Morissette, and the inspiration behind one of the singer's more bitter songs, the Grammy-winning hit “You Oughta Know.” Officially, he was married to model and actress Jayne Modean, with whom he has one son.
In 2004, Coulier was cast in VH1 show The Surreal Life
season 3. The show features celebrities who are said to be past their primes and puts them in a Hollywood Hills mansion for two weeks. As if this is not enough, unforgiving cameras also follow their every move. In this season, Coulier had to face challenges, such as taking surfing lessons and recording a group single. He often had personal space issues with some of the cast members, and had problems with rapper Flavor Flav
's snoring. He again clashed with Flav, when the rapper insisted on driving the RV despite not having a license.
