Born on December 3, 1960 in Chicago Illinois, Daryl Hannah is an American film actress whose interest in movies stems from her early bout of insomnia. She attended the Francis W. Parker School, as well as the Chicago Latin School, before attending the University of Southern California.
Daryl Hannah’s film debut was in the 1978 Brian de Palma movie The Fury. She also had small roles in other films like Hard Country and the television movie Paper Dolls. Her next project became her breakthrough one, being featured as the character Pris in 1982’s Blade Runner by Ridley Scott. In 1984, she was cast in Ron Howard’s fantasy Splash, where she starred as a blonde mermaid opposite Tom Hanks. During the 1980s, she developed her status as a high-profile film actress, taking on roles in films like Steel Magnolias and the Academy Award-winning film Wall Street. In 1986, she was cast as Ayla in The Clan of the Cave Bear, as well as being given the title role in Roxanne. Hannah also had a small role in the 1994 comedy The Little Rascals and in The Pope of Greenwich Village. She has also appeared in both of the Grumpy Old Men comedies. In 1995, she took the role of a sociopath in The Tie That Binds, while being named #96 in Empire magazine’s list of the “100 Sexiest Stars in Film History.”
Daryl Hannah is best remembered for her roles in Quentin Tarantino’s films Kill Bill: Vol. 1 and Kill Bill: Vol. 2. She was cast as Elle Driver, a one-eyed assassin, and gave a performance praised by many. She can also be seen in Cowboy Up, and 2002’s A Walk to Remember. In 2003, she was noted for her performance in Northfork, where she was cast as Flower Hercules. Hannah has also been cast in Michael Radford’s Dancing at the Blue Iguana, John Sayles’ Casa de los Babys and Silver City. She has also co-produced one of her films, Attack of the 50-foot Woman, a 1958 classic.
