Lawyer Dan Kay is one of the contestants of the reality series Survivor: Gabon. Born in Walpole, Massachusetts on June 30, 1976, he was very athletic during his high school years. He skied, ran the tracks, and played for his school’s football team. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst with degrees in political science and English, and later got his law degree from the Syracuse University. He practiced law in Boston for five years, but has since taken a break to devote more time to his friends and family.
Dan credits his upbringing for his strong work ethic. His mother took care of his disabled father and ill grandmother while working as a full-time nurse. His football team’s winning tradition reinforced his goal-oriented nature. His break from work as a lawyer has given him an increased appreciation for other people. He hopes that these traits will get him through the competitors and, perhaps, win Survivor.
