Courtney Marit Biography:
Born on May 24, 1974 in Washington, D.C., Courtney Marit Courtney Marit is a nationally ranked gymnast who attended the University of Georgia, where she was a member of the 1993 NCAA Championship team. As a performance artist, Marit collaborates with others to create theatrical shows that include music, fire, trapeze, stilts and a myriad of circus arts. Her profession has allowed her to travel to over 30 countries, all the while working as a deckhand/cook and helping deliver luxury yachts across the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. In the past, Marit took on an assortment of jobs, which include being a massage therapist, ski instructor, snow maker, farmer, elder caregiver, trailblazer, biking/hiking guide and importer. She enjoys mountain climbing, skiing, running a marathon, performing and surfing. She has also spent some time living in caves in India, surfing in Costa Rica, hitchhiking through Mexico and walking the deserts of Chile. Creative and free spirited, Marit is very happy to be part of an artistic community that integrates music, creation, dance and travel.
Marit's sense of adventure led her to audition for Survivor: Panama-Exile Island, where she was originally cast as a Bayoneta tribe member. After the first elimination, she was chosen to become a part of the La Mina, and ultimately was sent home from the Island as a member of the merged tribe, Gitanos.
