Coral Smith was featured as a member of the cast in the tenth season of the MTV reality television series The Real World, titled Back to New York. She was born on January 19, 1979 in San Francisco, California, to a family of African-American heritage. She has appeared on numerous reality television productions, specials, and videos. Among these are Real World/Road Rules Challenge, Battle Scars: From the Gauntlet to the Inferno, Montezuma’s Revenge: The Inferno Reunion, and Battle of the Network Reality Stars: Bravo. She has also been part of several movie specials, such as The Wedding Video, Reality TV Secrets: How to Get On The Show!, and The Real World – Decade of Bloopers.
During her appearance on Back to New York, which aired back in 2001, Smith came into conflict with fellow cast member Mike Mizanin, who would go on to work as a professional wrestler for the WWE. Mizanin shared some mildly racist views with Smith which he claimed were his uncle’s and not his own, that stated African-Americans were “slow.” Being offended and in indignant response, Smith and her fellow African-American housemate Malik Cooper took it upon themselves to educate Mizanin about African-American history and culture. They informed the wrestler about figures such as Malcolm X, and the struggle of their people for emancipation.
