Cindy Marlatt is an avid fan of Project Runway who got inspired by the show and decided to embark on a career as a fashion designer. She currently works part-time at the funeral home she and her husband owns. Prior to that, she has worked as a waitress, a department-store clerk, a telephone operator and cosmetologist/hairdresser.

She graduated with a bachelor's degree in fashion design from The Art Institute of Seattle in 2012 and in 2013, she became one of the designers competing for Project Runway season 11. She was eliminated in the third week of the competition.

-She won the Seattle Magazine contest for Best Student Designer in 2011.

-She won Best Spring Outfit at 2010 Art Institute Fashion Show.

-She won first place in the Cruel vs. Cool Seattle competition sponsored by the Humane Society of the United States in 2009.
