Christopher Meloni was born on April 2, 1961 in Washington, D.C. The son of a homemaker and an endocrinologist, he was raised in a family of mixed Italian and French-Canadian descent. He studied at St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School, before going on to pursue higher learning at the University of Colorado at Boulder, eventually graduating with a degree in history back in 1983. Upon finishing his college studies, he went to New York and trained under Sanford Meisner at the Neighborhood Playhouse. Among the TV shows he has acted in are Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, Scrubs,
and Homicide: Life on the Street.
Chris Keller is portrayed by Christopher Meloni in the HBO prison drama television series Oz. He is a dangerously violent and psychotic man who has murdered a number of people, and was sentenced to 88 years in prison. As he enters the world of the Oswald correctional institution, he immediately sides with the Aryan Brotherhood faction, saying that he owes its leader Vernon for helping him when Chris was only 17 years old. Chris has had sex with Vernon, and then later on deceives and seduces Tobias Beecher so that the Aryans can beat him up.
