Australian actor Chris Hemsworth was born on August 11, 1983 in the city of Melbourne. His family later moved to Phillip Island, south of his hometown. After attending Heathmont Secondary College, he took on a career in acting, making his regular debut in Aussie television show Guinevere Jones.
Hemsworth’s claim to fame is a stint in the Aussie soap Home and Away, which is aired across the world. Originally auditioning for the role of Robbie Hunter (which ultimately went to Jason Smith), he was rejected but later recalled as troubled personal trainer Kim Hyde. He held the role until 2007, when he left the show, although his character appeared in a few subsequent episodes.
Recently, Hemsworth trained his sights on Hollywood. After a relatively small (but crucial) role in the movie Star Trek, as James Kirk’s father, he took roles in other upcoming major releases such as Cabin in the Woods, Red Dawn, and the lead role in Thor.
#Chris has an older and an younger brothers, Luke and Liam, that are also actors and have had recurring role as Nathan Tyson and Josh Taylor on Neighbours, respectively.
#If he wasn't an actor he would have become a writer or a director.
#Chris' childhood nickname is Kip, because when he tried to say his name it came out as 'Kiptader'.
#In his spare time Chris likes playing the guitar, surfing and listening to some of his favourite music - Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, David Gray and The Pharcyde.
