Biography

Born on April 29, 1968 in Bel Air, California, Carnie Wilson is best known for being a member of the singing group Wilson Philips in the early 1990s. She is daughter of 1960s pop icon Brian Wilson and had a storied battle with obesity. At one point, her weight peaked at 300 pounds on her frame of 5 feet and 3 inches. She had gastric bypass surgery in 1999 after all dieting failed. The procedure was broadcast live online and she lost 150 pounds. She posed for Playboy in 2003 to show off her new body.

Carnie Wilson founded Wilson Philips with sister Wendy and childhood friend Chynna Philips. They were able to release two albums, with six singles breaking in on top 20. The group eventually broke up in 199, but Carnie and Wendy attempted to record together, releasing a Christmas album in 1993. In 1997, the Wilson sisters recorded an album with their father and while critics raved about it, it was not as commercially successful as their first endeavors.

In 2003, Carnie Wilson ventured into a solo career with the album "For the First Time." Its carrier single "I Don't Need You To," however, got lukewarm reception and the album was eventually shelved. A year later in 2004, Wilson Philips would reunite and come out with a third album called "California." When she gave birth to her first daughter Lola, she released an album of lullabies called "A Mother's Gift: Lullabies from the Heart" and later in 2007, another Christmas album called "Christmas with Carnie."

Carnie also had her own nationally syndicated talk show Carnie!, and guest-starred on episode of That 70s Show, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, as a contestant in Celebrity Fit Club, and Gone Country.

Wilson is a contestant in the VH1 reality series Celebracadabra, where celebrities are taught different forms of magic by veteran magicians. Each week, the celebrities are judged and one gets eliminated, en route to a grade prize of $100,000. She was eliminated on the show's first episode.
