British actress Carmen Ejogo Wright was born on January 1, 1974 in London, England. Her mother, Elizabeth, was a tour guide and her father, Charles, was an entrepreneur. It is also worth noting that Carmen is of Scottish and Nigerian descent.
Carmen Ejogo’s television career began during the 1990s, when she became the host of the children’s series Saturday Disney. She started out in the United Kingdom, but later became successful in the USA as well. In 1986, she played Carmen in Absolute Beginners, and was cast as Blinda in episodes of the mini-series Cold Lazarus in 1996. The next year, she got the part of Veronica ‘Ronnie’ Tate in Metro with Eddie Murphy, and played Amber in the 1998 film I Want You. Also that year, she got the part of Brenda in The Avengers before she was seen portraying Rose Angela in the mini-series Colour Blind.
In 2000, Carmen Ejogo got the lead role in the TV movie Sally Hemings: An American Scandal. Her next endeavor was playing Maria in Love’s Labour’s Lost, where she got the chance to work with Kenneth Branagh. She had several projects in 2001. The first was playing Chloe in the movie Perfume, then getting the role of Coretta Scott King in the TV production Boycott. She later worked with Martin Lawrence for the film What’s the Worst that Could Happen?, in which she got the part of Amber Belhaven. After roles in Noel, and in the TV movie Lackawanna Blues, she was cast in the short-lived NBC series Kidnapped. Her character is that of Turner, the partner and right hand to Knapp (Jeremy Sisto), a professional private investigator who works outside the law's strict rulebook to retrieve kidnapping victims and guide families through the crisis.
Since then, Ejogo has appeared on the blockbuster movie The Brave One starring Jodie Foster, as well as filmed an episode of Law & Order.
