Canadian actress Carly Pope was born on August 28, 1980 in Vancouver, British Columbia. She began acting in high school adaptations of classic plays, playing Mickey in The Odd Couple and Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Carly Pope would later go on to work in both movies and television series, among them Disturbing Behavior, Trapped in a Purple Haze, Snow Day, The Glass House, Finder’s Fee, and Orange County. For her role in 2004’s The Collector, she won a Leo Award for Best Supporting Actress. Outside of her acting career, she is presently attending university and is fluent in Spanish, French and Italian.
Sam McPherson is portrayed by Carly Pope in the television series Popular. A stubborn and spirited individual, she’s one of Kennedy High’s unpopular girls. Her father died when she was young, though she still learned to stand up for herself. Sam works on the school paper, often writing exposés against unfair practices and hypocrisy at the school. She starts out as an enemy of Brooke, though they begin to get along later on.
