Carlos Mencia Biography:
Carlos Mencia was born on October 22, 1967 in San Pedro, Sula Honduras. His parents are Roberto and Magdalena Mencia, but he was raised and cared for by his aunt and uncle. As a young child, Carlos studied at the Hammel Grade School in East Los Angeles. Carlos was well-behaved child, not much of a troublemaker. After graduating from High School in 1985, Carlos was often tempted to join the growing number of gangs in his neighborhood, but his family made sure he would live a straight life. He dropped out of Cal State to pursue his career as a comedian. To date, he has a fair number of accomplishments, including the television series Loco Slam in 1994, an album entitled Take a Joke America and the year-long Three Amigos Tour in 2002. Most recently, Mencia was accused of stealing jokes by Fear Factor host Joe Rogan.
The controversy doesn’t seem to have affected the success of Mencia’s current television program Mind of Mencia, which airs weekly on Comedy Central. The show, as its name suggests, let’s the viewers in on just what goes on inside the comedian’s head. The show is not limited to the stage as he often takes to the streets to interview random people. No one is spared from Mencia’s stinging jokes and commercial parodies.
