Best friends Carla and Joelle are one of eleven pairs competing in the second batch of The Biggest Loser: Couples.
Carla Triplett, 36, is an assistant bank manager born in Detroit, MI, but based in nearby Southfield. The second of four children, she’s struggled for attention by showing off and overeating, something that has since caught up with her. She has lost weight numerous times, but somehow she keeps on gaining it back. She’s always persisted on shedding the pounds, but has always been hesitant of working out with her husband, thinking he is too hard on her.
Joelle Gwynn, 41, is a founder of a non-profit organization who, like Carla, is born in Detroit but now lives in Southfield, MI. She hosts a non-profit radio show, My Music: My Choice, where she encourages her listeners to stay positive. Things haven’t been the same for her, however; her optimistic self, and her dieting, takes the back seat when she gets pent up in her emotions and ends up overeating. Recently, though, she was diagnosed with high blood pressure and diabetes, a fact that scared her since heart disease runs in her blood.
Carla and Joelle form the Gray Team, training under Bob Harper. They are hopeful that their energetic and competitive nature will tide them over in The Biggest Loser: Couples. More importantly, they have aimed to support each other in their ultimate goal—to lose weight—while having fun along the way.
