Biography

Gillette Young Gun Carl Michael Edwards II was born on August 15, 1979 in Columbia, Missouri where he grew up watching his father race. He was inspired to race because his father had been racing modified stock cars and USAC midget sprint cars for over forty years, winning over two hundred races. Edwards Jr.'s career was launched in 1993 when he began racing four-cylinder mini-sprints at age thirteen. Four years later, he switched to dirt, racing in the IMCA modified division and in 1998, he was crowned Rookie-of-the-Year in that same division at Holt Summit, Missouri's Capital Speedway. Further success came to him in 2002, when he competed in seven NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events for MB Motorsports. Three years later, Edwards became a full-time driver in the NEXTEL cup and Busch series and by 2005, he picked up his second NEXTEL Cup at the Pocono 500 at the Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania.

Carl Edwards is a Gillette Young Gun on the reality series Fast Cars and Superstars: The Gillette Young Guns Celebrity Race, a stock car racing reality series on ABC.
