Born Walter Bruce Willis on March 19, 1955 in West Germany, Bruce Willis is an actor who gained mainstream popularity via the Die Hard series and his 13-year marriage to actress Demi Moore. His films have grossed over $2.55 billion in North American box offices, making him the sixth highest-grossing actor in leading roles.
Born to a banker and a solider, Bruce Willis and his family moved back to New Jersey after his father was discharged from the military in 1957. He attended Penns Grove High School, where he performed on stage during high school activities with the drama club and the school council. His parents separated in 1972 while Willis was in his early teens.
After high school, Bruce Willis became a security guard who transported work crews between factories. He then learned to play the harmonica and joined a band called Loose Goose. He was also a private investigator for a short time, after which he decided to seriously pursue acting, enrolling in the drama program of Montclair State University. However, he left during his junior year to move to New York City. After countless auditions, he landed his first off-Broadway production, then appeared in a television show and a commercial for Levi’s.
Willis then moved to Los Angeles and bested 3,000 actors to play the quirky lead role in the series Moonlighting in 1985. The show, which co-starred Cybill Shepherd, earned Wills an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 1987 After Blind Date in 1987, the action film Die Hard catapulted Willis to fame, with it grossing over $138 million worldwide. Other than acting, Willis also ventured into music, recording a pop-blues album in the late 1980s. The follow-up recordings, however, essentially flopped.
Then came Color of Night, Pulp Fiction, Twelve Monkeys, The Fifth Element, The Sixth Sense, and Armageddon, 1998’s highest grossing film worldwide, for Willis. He later won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series, because of his work on Friends. He later made a cameo appearance in Ocean’s Twelve, following it up with Frank Miller’s Sin City in 2005. His other roles have been in Alpha Dog, Lucky Number Slevin, voicing a character in Over the Hedge and 2007’s Perfect Stranger. He later landed a part in Assassination of a High School President, and has been rumored to appear as Col. Hannibal Smith in The A-Team.

.I'm much more proud of being a father than being an actor.
.Who I am as a father is far more important to me than the public perception.
.I am a sensitive guy. People think they know the real me, but they don't. And then they write things that make me sound like such a jerk.
.Hair loss is God's way of telling me I'm human.
.Fifty is the new forty. I always thought my best work would come in the years forty to sixty, if I was fortunate enough to hang around - and it is hard to stick around.
