Four-time Miss America Organization title holder Brandi Milloy
was born in Sierra Vista, Arizona. She attended Buena High and graduated from the University of Arizona. In joining beauty pageants, the goal she always has in mind is to out-do the other contestants in volunteer hours. Brandi used to be unsure and unconfident of herself. During her teenage years, she was diagnosed with scoliosis and had to wear back brace in addition to undergoing four back surgeries. Bullied and peer pressured for looking different, Brandi grew up being the ugly duckling. Despite her condition, she enjoyed playing sports and believes that she is a natural competitor. She triumphed in a pie-eating contest and ate a live worm to win a game.
Brandi Milloy's favorite foods are fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gelato and candy. She loves the romantic drama film The Notebook and digs any kind of music from country to pop to hip-hop. Her biggest indulgence is eating out at restaurants while her much-loved weekend activities are going to church and spending time with her sister and nephew. The most unforgettable giving back moment for her was when she mentored two brothers for two years. She spent every weekend with the boys and helped them in their endeavors, ranging from developing their basketball skills to coaching them in the academic field. “Seeing the changes was really rewarding,” Brandi said. Eventually, the relationship turned into what she calls a “really great friendship.”
Brandi Milloy is one of the 10 contestants on ABC's reality game show Oprah's Big Give
, where each contestant is given a large sum of money as they compete in finding “the most powerful, sensational, emotional and dramatic ways to give to others.” Believing that volunteering is everyone's obligation, Brandi says that people don't have to wait until they are older or richer to give back because there are so many small ways to do so.
