Interview with Branden Branden Rickman is the baby of the Make Me A Supermodel house. Born in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, Branden was raised by a single mother and is proud to call himself a 'Mamma's Boy.' As a child Branden left Nevada to live with his mother in Central Point Oregon, where he attended Crater High School. A self described "ladies man," Branden revels in the fact that he "practically grew up snowboarding."
Just after graduating high school, Branden Rickman decided to try his luck by going on the hit Bravo reality series Make Me A Supermodel. There, he became one of 16 contestants to compete for $100,000 and a contract with New York Model Management. Joining the aspiring models is show host Tyson Beckford, who plays mentor along with Nicole Trunfio. Helping out the group is this season’s panel of esteemed judges, including world-renowned designer Catherine Malandrino, model Jenny Shimizu, celebrated photographer Perou and international model scout Marlon.
Before joining the competition, Branden spent a year working with Image Modeling development in Oregon, which convinced him that he had what it takes to succeed in the modeling industry. From day one of the competition Branden was lauded for his youthful good looks and natural talent. Branden was the first boy to win immunity in Season Two of Make Me A Supermodel, for his vulnerable portrayal of a Candy Cane in Episode 2. Branden also won a secondary photo challenge in Episode 3, which resulted in him being invited to walk in Montreal's Fashion Week.
Despite starting off strong, Branden has struggled with confidence, youth, and missing his mother during the competition. Branden has ended up in the Bottom Two or Three, four times during the competition, narrowly avoiding elimination a number of times. The judges criticized Branden for appearing overly confident on the runway. Once they leveled this criticism against him, Branden struggled to find any confidence, which resulted in the judges critiquing him for loosing his personality and "Branden-ness."
As the child of a single mother, Branden bonded closely with Amanda, a single mother herself during their time on Make Me A Supermodel. Branden also managed to find new positive male role models in mentor Tyson Beckford and fellow competitor Jonathan Waud. When Branden was feeling homesick or missing his Mamma, he often turned to his fellow competitors for strength and comfort. It was clear to those watching that Branden was the beloved baby of the house and that his fellow competitors rallied around him during this time of growth and change.
Indeed, Branden Rickman has gone through a bigger transformation than any other contestant on Make Me A Supermodel. With his boyish good looks and charm, as well as a natural runway walk, Branden Rickman was named the winner of the competition. Since his victory, he has signed with New York Model Management in New York, Wilhelmina Models in Los Angeles and Image Modeling Development in Medford.
