Individually, the members of the Boxcuttuhz have credentials that go through the roof. They’ve danced alongside notable crews like Quest, Unity La, GRV and two alums of America’s Best Dance Crew: Jabbawockeez and Funkanometry. Even if they have their own unique talents, they’ve come to unite and form one astounding group. Over the last few years, 25-year-old choreographer Lando Wilkins got to know the rest of the Boxcuttuhz through the dance community. He assembled them as his “family,” working with them non-stop to create a team of world-class performers.
With influences like M.I.A., Bjork, Janet Jackson, Cool Kids, Missy Elliott, Kardinal Offishal and Ludacris, the group is definitely not pigeonholed into one musical genre. The Boxcuttuhz is composed of Lando aka Bang Jenkins, Aris Jefferson aka Jun Bug, Brian Martin aka Bam, Rocko Luciano, Diamond Robinson aka Juice, Jaffar Smith aka Tumz and Lydia Paek aka Lydz.
Saying that “Our goal is to reach for the hearts and votes of America while giving them something to remember,” the Boxcuttuhz is one of the crews competing for the title of America’s Best Dance Crew. Joining eight other teams, the group is all set to show off their amazing and intricate moves in front of the whole country. With host Mario Lopez and backstage correspondent Layla Kayleigh, the crews will have to impress judges JC Chasez, Lil Mama and choreographer Shane Sparks. Encountering challenges week after week, each team battles for the $100,000 cash prize, but more for the pride of being the nation’s best.
