Betsy Bolan is one of the twenty castaways of Survivor: Samoa. The 48-year-old lives in Campton, New Hampshire and works as a police officer—something that she’s dreamed of her entire life, and only got to do so a year ago. A mother to two boys and two girls, she kept the family strong when her husband was diagnosed with stage-four prostate cancer, which has since gone in remission but has affected their finances significantly.

A former hippie who’s sober for the past 21 years, she is nicknamed “Officer Friendly” by friends, but claims her skills as a cop will help her cope with fellow castaways who might attempt to make devious moves on everyone. She is the older sister to Brandi Chastain.
