Biography

These ladies from Los Angeles are a hip-hop dance team who has been a familiar sight in the scene. Having won numerous awards and appearing in several television shows, the Beat Freaks are credited with being seen on music videos by artists like Pink, Avril Lavigne, Madonna and Miley Cyrus. What’s more, they’ve been featured in movies like You Got Served and Step Up 2. They have prided themselves in their wide range of style, but feel even stronger with the passion they’ve developed for the dance floor.
Drawing their influences from artists like Hot Chip, M.I.A., Santogold and CSS to OutKast, T.I., Aaliyah and Missy Elliottt to Prince, Zapp and James Brown, the Beat Freaks have the most fun being their usual well-rounded crew. This 7-girl group is composed of Alex Welch aka Shorty, Julie Ulrich aka Lady Jules, Keely Kaukimoce aka Lock ‘n Key, Marie Courchinoux aka Maryss from Paris, Lindsey Blaufarb, Rino Nakasone-Razalan, and Teresa Espinosa.
The Beat Freaks is one of the crews competing for the title of America’s Best Dance Crew. Joining eight other teams, the group is all set to show off their amazing and intricate moves in front of the whole country. With host Mario Lopez and backstage correspondent Layla Kayleigh, the crews will have to impress judges JC Chasez, Lil Mama and choreographer Shane Sparks. Encountering challenges week after week, each team battles for the $100,000 cash prize, but more for the pride of being the nation’s best.
