Anna Trebunskaya was inspired to take up dancing back in her native Russia, where her parents - who were professional ballroom dancers - owned a dance studio. She entered her first competition at age 7, and has won several titles since then. She continued competing when her family moved to the United States when she was 17. She won, among others, the Rising Star Latin Championship in 2004 and the International Grand Ball Latin Championship a year later.
Trebunskaya is best known for her stints on ABC's Dancing with the Stars. She first joined in the second season, where she partnered with football player Jerry Rice, and finished in second. She repeated that feat in the tenth season, when she paired with figure skater Evan Lysacek.
She is currently married to dancer Jonathan Roberts, her one-time partner in the professional circuit.
