Andre Royo was born 1968 in the Bronx, in New York City. The actor, who is of Cuban and African-American heritage, is a regular in the film festival circuit. He wrote a short film, called Andre Royo's Big Scene, which drew acclaim at the Pan African Film Festival. He has been featured in television shows such as Strong Medicine and Cuts. At present, he is best known for his gritty take on the role of Bubbles in HBO's police drama, The Wire.
Bubbles is a homeless drug addict who became an informant for Detective Kima Greggs. He tries very hard to overcome his addiction and stay clean for the rest of his life, but Bubbles always find himself threading the same heroin-paved path again and again. Because of his knowledge on the happenings in West Baltimore, Bubbles proved to be a very loyal and reliable informant.
