Biography

Born on November 30, 1969, Amy Ryan is an actress who has achieved major success on Broadway stage while making a name for herself on primetime TV. At present, she stars as Adele on the HBO series In Treatment.

As a theatre performer, Ryan has been nominated for the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play twice, in 2000 for her portrayal of Sonya Alexandrovna in Uncle Vanya and in 2005 for her performance as Stella Kowalski opposite John C. Reilly in A Streetcar Named Desire.

Ryan also has an extensive TV resume that includes a brief stint on As the World Turns, a role on the series I’ll Fly Away, a regular gig on The Naked Truth, and recurring roles on Law and Order and NBC’s The Office where she plays Holly. Her most notable role, however, was playing Port Authority Officer Beadie Russell on HBO’s The Wire.

On the big screen, Ryan appeared in Clint Eastwood’s Changeling and in Gone Baby Gone where she was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress. She was later seen on other films like Bob Funk, The Missing Person, Green Zone and 2010's Jack Goes Boating.
