Born on October 6, 1970 in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Amy Jo Johnson is an actress and musician best known for playing Kimberly Ann Hart, the first ever Pink Ranger of the Power Rangers franchise, and Julie Emrick on the college drama Felicity, among other television roles. The daughter of a car salesman and a clothing store manager, she was initially interested in gymnastics growing up. She actually reached Class One – the highest status in gymnastics – allowing her to participate in international competitions on all four gymnastic events. A severe injury, however, caused her to give up her Olympic dream.
When Johnson turned 18, she graduated from Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School and moved to New York City to pursue acting professionally. She then attended the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute and the American Musical and Acting Academy. She soon transferred to Los Angeles, however, to start looking for roles. She made her acting debut as Kimberly Ann Hart in the 1993 series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, capitalizing on her gymnastics background. This was followed by a made-for-TV Disney Channel movie Susie Q in 1996 when she left Power Rangers.
After several small roles, Johnson once again achieved a big break, when she bagged the role of Emrick, the college best friend of the lead on The WB series Felicity. She played the role for more than two years. In 2008, she bagged the role of Jules Callahan on the CBS police drama Flashpoint.
