A’Keiba Burrell was born on September 29, 1987 and is the daughter of famous rapper MC Hammer. She shares the same birthday with her mother Stephanie Fuller, who turned 21 on the day she gave birth to A'Keiba. A'Keiba has five other siblings. Coincidentally, the day she was born was also the first time her father heard his song on the radio.
Burrell got interested in music as a child and her parents supported her passion. MC Hammer allowed her to go onstage with him. In MC Hammer’s concerts, A’Keiba Burrel can be found dancing and singing with her father.
A’Keiba Burrell is currently a student taking up a double major in film and music production at the University of Texas at Austin. Her involvement with her father’s career inspired her to hone her talents and to study the business and technical sides of the industry as well. She is also a member of UT choirs.
She describes herself as a person who sings R&B with a neo-soul vibe. Two activities she enjoys are going out to dinner and bowling.
A’Keiba Burrell is one of the nine contestants on MTV’s reality talent search Rock the Cradle, wherein the offspring of pop and rock stars compete to prove that the talent is in their genes. It was MC Hammer himself who suggested that Burrell join the contest. Aside from the fact that she loves performing, Burrell considered being part of the show because she thought it sounded fun. Her father’s only advice to her is just that—to have fun.
During rehearsals and preparations for the series, Burrell found friends. “We have this weird connection. You don’t have to offer any disclaimers. They look at yours as a normal childhood,” she shared. She plans to go back to school once the show ends.
