British actor Aiden Turner was born on April 2, 1977 in Hertfordshire, England. He has varied pursuits prior to his career; while studying at St. Edmund’s College, he entered culinary school to pursue his love of cooking. While working as a chef, he also worked as a DJ. He then entered the world of modeling, eventually working on shows and shoots in different locations around the world. Finally deciding on an acting career, he took lessons at the Method Studio Covent Garden in London. Turner is one of the stars competing on the tenth season of Dancing with the Stars.
After stints in several television commercials during the late 1990s, Turner finally entered the world of acting head-on. His first acting credits came through British soap operas: Crossroads, in 1997, and EastEnders, in 1998. He also appeared in other shows, such as the MTV drama Undressed, the Australian series Heartbreak High, and the British crime drama The Bill.
In 2002, Turner moved across the pond, joining the cast of the American daytime soap All My Children. He originated the role of Aidan Devane, a trained member of the British special ops who partners with Tad Martin (Stephen E. Knight) in founding a private investigator’s office. After being involved with many women, he eventually married Greenlee Smythe (currently played by Rebecca Budig). In 2003, he was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for Best Younger Drama Actor. He left the show, however, in 2004 due to a “family emergency,” but he has since returned.
Turner has also acted on film. His first film was Manhattanites, a drama which was released in 2008.
