Afroborike is one of nine crews that are part of the fourth season of MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew. Based in Las Vegas, the group of six consist of Puerto Ricans and Cuban refugees who were handpicked by teacher Natalie Durr. They grew up exposed to salsa, and have been trained in that dance—and moved to the United States to express themselves in a more free, more liberal way than they used to.
20-year-old Elisabet Riero Cortes is a virtual vegetarian—she’s never had meat before—and is always teased about her big behind.
23-year-old Josue Vega Torres is the clown of the crew, and has a penchant for changing his hairstyle every two weeks.
30-year-old Martin Alain Lavelle is one of two Cuban defectors, and is very much committed to his family; while he hasn’t seen them in ages, he still sends money whenever he can, now that his mother just died.
23-year-old Miguel Reyes is a sneaker collector and love four-wheeling in the mountains.
27-year-old Sidelay Ramos Hernandez is the other Cuban defector in the group, and thinks she’s too skinny.
21-year-old Zoeth Cardenales Velaquez is the teacher’s pet in her dance class, and is the quiet one in the crew.
