Dr. Chris Taub (Peter Jacobson) on "House" is a character that almost everyone can relate to. He was hired by Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) as a member of his medical team. Taub was originally a wealthy plastic surgeon. He was caught cheating on his wife, Rachel (Jennifer Crystal), with a nurse and blackmailed into quitting his job and never practicing plastic surgery again after signing a non-compete agreement.
After leaving his practice, he joined Dr. House's team. Taub believes that being on House's team will help save his marriage, however, during his years at the Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital, he continued to cheat and lie to his wife. He quit the team when Dr. Eric Foreman (Omar Epps) was put in charge in Season 6 but returned shortly after House was reinstated. Along with Dr. Robert Chase (Jesse Spencer), he performs most of the surgeries on the show.
Taub provides comic relief on the show and is quick to challenge House's authority. He is an innovative member of the team and quick to think on his feet although he does not seem very pleased at where he is at professionally in his career.
"Who wants to go service House, so this patient can live?"
"This gonna mean months of sleepless night wondering if I could've done something differently... Maybe it's not, and I'm sick of House. It's that I'm sick of being scared out my mind coming in to work."
"Some people pop pills. I cheat. We all have our vices."
