Perhaps best known as the sister of actress and singer Hilary Duff, Haylie Duff also has an established career as an actress and singer. She was born on February 19, 1985 in Houston, Texas, around two and a half years before her most famous sister.
Duff started acting as an adolescent, appearing in television movies such as Hope and Addams Family Reunion, for which she won a Young Artists Award. She made guest appearances in shows such as The Amanda Show, Chicago Hope, Boston Public, Third Watch, American Dreams, That’s So Raven, and her sister’s breakout show, Lizzie McGuire. She had a minor role in the 2004 independent hit Napoleon Dynamite, playing a stereotypical popular teenager named Summer; this was followed by roles in other films such as Dishdogz, Material Girls, Legacy and Nightmare, and the straight-to-DVD release Cindy and the Halo Boy. She also played a role in the television series 7th Heaven, playing the best friend of Simon’s (David Gallagher) fianc?e Rose (Sarah Thompson), Sandy Jameson. She played her character until 2007, when her character was impregnated by the otherwise conservative Michael Brewer (Tyler Hoechlin).
Duff is also an accomplished songwriter and singer. She recorded numerous songs for various movie soundtracks, notably “Our Lips Are Sealed” with her sister; most of the songs appeared in several Disneymania compilations. She also co-wrote several songs for three of Hilary Duff’s albums: her debut Metamorphosis, Hilary Duff, and Dignity. She also provided guest vocals to the song “On the Rise Again,” performed by rapper Kool G Rap. She was also once involved in a legal tussle with Paris Hilton, regarding a song both have recorded.
Duff is also co-executive producer and host of the reality series Legally Blonde the Musical: The Search for Elle Woods, which ran on MTV in the middle of 2008.
