Dr. April Kepner

Played by Sarah Drew

Dr. April Kepner (Sarah Drew) is a surgeon on the television series "Grey's Anatomy." Originally a doctor at Mercy West Hospital, she began working at Seattle Grace when the two hospitals merged. She is a very good doctor, but self-conscious and not very confident in her abilities in surgery. April grew up on a corn farm with three sisters and watches Oprah religiously. She is a virgin because she wants the first time to be special and she has not found that person yet. She also had plastic surgery done on her nose, but has not told anyone about it.

Despite being a good doctor, April became distracted in the operating room while performing surgery on a patient and the patient ended up dying. After this incident, she was fired. She ended up being re-hired by Dr. Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), but was hesitant to perform surgery again. She preferred to act as the personal assistant to Dr. Shepherd. Eventually, he forced her to get back in the operating room and begin performing surgery again.

April develops feelings for Dr. Shepherd despite the fact that he is married to Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo). Meredith's half-sister Lexie (Chyler Leigh) finds out about April's feelings and sets her straight that he is a married man and she cannot have him.

Memorable Quotes:

"There you are. I've got your wife's clothes for the breakfast, and I made note cards for your speech for this morning."
