Glenn Close was born March 19, 1947 in Greenwich, Connecticut. She and Fatal Attraction co-star, Michael Douglas, both graduated from prep schools in Connecticut - Close from Rosemary Hall in Greenwich and Douglas from Choate School in Wallingford. When the two schools eventually merged, they became two of the most famous alumni of Choate Rosemary Hall. When Close was 13, her father started a clinic in what was formerly the Belgian Congo. The clinic stayed open for sixteen years, during which time, the Close children shuttled back and forth between Africa and Swiss boarding schools. Close, who graduated with a degree in drama and anthropology from the College of William & Mary, made her professional debut as one fourth of the Green Glen Singers in the original production of Up With People in 1964. She has won three Tony Awards, twice as Best Actress in a Play for her performances in Tom Stoppard’s The Real Thing in 1984 and 2002’s Death and the Maiden. Her third Tony was for Best Actress in a Musical for her role as Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard. She was the fourth choice to play the part of Alex in the 1987 thriller, Fatal Attraction, behind Debra Winger, Barbara Hershey and Miranda Richardson. Her portrayal of Alex ranks #7 on the American Film Institute's villain’s list of the 100 Years of The Greatest Screen Heroes and Villains and #36 on Premiere Magazine's 100 Greatest Movie Characters of All Time. In 1984, Close became the third actor to receive an Oscar, Emmy and Tony nomination in the same calendar year for The Big Chill, Something About Amelia, and The Real Thing respectively.
