George Sotiropoulos appears as one of the competing fighters in the Spike TV network’s mixed martial arts contest reality series The Ultimate Fighter: Team Hughes vs. Team Serra. He is 29 years old, and has an MMA record of 7-2. Sotiropoulos is a native of Geelong, Victoria in Australia, though he has undergone most of his extensive training in San Diego, CA. He has called himself a thrill-seeker, and says that while he was growing up in the land down under, he was always on the lookout for the next exciting rush he could find. Sotiropoulos is also an experienced athlete and sportsman, having participated in cricket, karate, mountain biking, and Australian Rules Football.
It was in the UFC, however, that he found his true passion. He began studying Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with a local club, and then decided to focus almost exclusively on mixed martial arts. With these goals in mind, Sotiropoulos chose to travel to the United States and try his hand at becoming The Ultimate Fighter. Among his inspirations is UFC veteran Frank Shamrock, whom he says is the best example of a classic warrior. Outside of fighting, Sotiropoulos is also a fan of various movies such as Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and The Godfather.
