Gene Simmons' Biography:
Gene Simmons was born in Haifa, Israel. He studied at New York State University and New York City University where he earned his degree in education. Previously, he taught the sixth grade in Spanish Harlem and worked as an assistant to the director of the Puerto Rican InterAgency Council. In addition, he also worked at Glamour and became the assistant to the editor at Vogue. Ultimately, he co-founded the band KISS.
Gene has always attributed his ethics, morals, and drive to his mother's notions about life: "Every day above ground is a good day," his mother would say. Gene took this inspirational credo and adopted it as his personal outlook on life.
Fans of the rocker may be surprised to learn that he can speak more than one language. He's fluent in English, Hungarian, German, Hebrew, and is getting better at Japanese every day. He's also becoming interested in Mandarin Chinese, so that may be the next language he tackles next.
