American actor Freddy Rodriguez was born on January 17, 1975 in Chicago, Illinois, to Puerto Rican parents. He is best known for his role on the HBO series Six Feet Under and a recurring role on the series Ugly Betty. He made his first screen appearance in 1988, in a minor role in The Undertaker. His first recognizable role, however, was in the 1995 romance A Walk in the Clouds, which also stars Keanu Reeves and Giancarlo Giannini. He then appeared in films such as Hardly Can’t Wait and Payback, as well as in television series such as Party of Five and Oh, Grow Up.
After roles in Scrubs and the animated series Static Shock, Rodriguez took on a role in the HBO drama Six Feet Under. Here he plays Federico Diaz, an extremely talented restorative artist working at the Fisher funeral home who would later become a partner in the business. He had a minor role in the disaster film Poseidon, played the role of a vicious drug dealer in the film Havoc, and played a supporting role in the M. Night Shyamalan thriller Lady in the Water. In 2005, he provided the voice of the character Mas y Menos in the animated series Teen Titans. In 2006, he starred alongside Christian Bale and Eva Longoria in the crime film Harsh Times, his first leading role in a major film release.
Rodriguez then appeared as a guest in the medical drama ER, where he played a dying comic. He then starred in Planet Terror, director Robert Rodriguez’ contribution to the double-bill with Quentin Tarantino, Grindhouse. He plays the role of El Wray, the mysterious ex-girlfriend of Cherry Darling (Rose McGowan). He was then cast in a recurring role in the ABC series Ugly Betty, as Giovanni Rossi, a sandwich shop owner who is expected to become the love interest of lead Betty Suarez (America Ferrera). He is set to appear in a film adaptation of the book Bodega Dreams, which he also co-produces.
