Biography

Actor and comedian Fred Goss was born on March 25, 1961 in Orchard Lake, Michigan. He has a wide range of work in different fields, as a writer, actor, producer and director. He began writing his own plays during his 20s, eventually moving on towards sketch comedy, particularly his work for the Acme Comedy Theater in Los Angeles. He began performing, however, during his teenage years, and was part of several Los Angeles-based theater companies.

Goss eventually made the jump to the screen in the 2000s, appearing in the horror short film Veil. (His earlier screen role, however, was a guest role in the ‘80s sitcom ALF.) His first regular television work was in the improvised sitcom Significant Others, which premiered in 2004. Despite its low profile, it was highly praised for its originality and dark humor.

Goss moved on to another sitcom, Sons & Daughters. The series, which he also created and executive producer, premiered in 2006. He played the lead role: Cameron Walker, who deals with living with his extended family. Ratings were dismal, but the series attracted a dedicated fan base, and critics also had high praises for the program’s approach. Despite an online petition, the series was cancelled after one season.

Goss’ most recent television work was in the comedy series Carpoolers, where he co-starred with Jerry O’Connell. The series, which aired in 2007, saw him play Gracen Brooker, a married mediator who is close friends with divorced dentist Larry Holcomb (O’Connell). The series was also cancelled after its first seasons because of disappointing ratings performance.

Goss also works as a director, having worked on pilots (most of which he wrote himself) and corporate presentations for several networks, and also many episodes of his own series, Sons & Daughters. He is also a successful commercial director.
