Born Francisco Gonzalez on October 30, 1965 in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, Franky G is a film and television best known for his role as Xavier in Saw II and Wrench in The Italian Job in 2003. He adopted the last name of just 'G' instead of Gonzalez because he didn't want to get sterotyped roles for Puerto Ricans.
Growing up in Flushing, Queens, Franky dreamed of becoming an actor. A talented athlete and student, he was awarded the opportunity to play football at A&M College. When a knee injury ended his athletic career, Franky took a shot at acting, appearing in such Off Broadway productions as One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie. According to him, he chose theater because it is live and that there is no “cut.” This was followed by a string of independently-produced films and more New York plays. In the future, he said he wants to direct and start his own film and theater production.
Franky was relentless in pursuing his acting career and his determination soon paid off. Franky's first film role was as Junior in Manito and went on to appear in the film Confidence, starring opposite Dustin Hoffman, Ed Burns, Andy Garcia, and Rachel Weisz. Franky's other credits include The Italian Job and Wonderland. He played Joe on the short-lived CBS series Smith.
Franky G also had a prolific bodybuilding career. He competed in the Mr. Metropolis and Mr. Queens competitions and could squat 510 pounds during his peak.
His other screen credits include Manito, for which he won the Special Jury Prize (Dramatic) Award at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival, Confidence, Johnny Zero, and New York Undercover.
