Frank DiCopoulos, who was born on January 3, 1957 in Akron, Ohio, was educated at Kenyon College where he majored psychology and minored in art and drama. While in college, he was active in sports such as football, basketball and lacrosse and was interested in pursuing a career as an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine. However, his grades were dropping, thus he turned to drama courses to raise his grade point average. DiCopoulos began to enjoy these classes but did not immediately consider becoming an actor. Upon graduation, he moved to Texas where he worked in a tire store as an auto mechanic. While doing so, he began modeling for print photography ads and doing commercials. He later became a finalist in a nationwide talent search held in Dallas. He then landed a small film role and eventually appeared in an MTV video do!$#!#entary, Wild Rides.
In 1984, Frank DiCopoulos moved to Los Angeles and appeared on numerous television series to boost his career. He was in The Tracey Ullman Show, Silver Spoons, O’Hara, Hotel, Dynasty and Falcon Crest. He has also worked on soap operas like The Young and the Restless, Capitol and General Hospital. Eventually, he joined the cast of the CBS soap Guiding Light, landing the role of Frank Achilles Cooper, Jr. DiCopoulos also garnered several film credits to his name. He was in 1987’s Surrender, and was seen in TV movies like A Murder in Black and White, and A Wedding Story: Josh and Reva.
Frank DiCopoulos is a record-holder as well, setting an NCAA record for the 60-yard indoor high hurdles while in college at Kenyon College. Other than acting, he enjoys other sports like running, lifting weights, basketball, tennis and golf. DiCopoulos is also known for being a collector of contemporary art, and his hobbies include music and drawing.
