Without a Trace: Preview of Finale "Undertow"

As Without a Trace remains to tinker dangerously on the brink of cancellation, its season 7 finale - "Undertow" - will air tonight on CBS (Entertainment Weekly says the drama is "unlikely" to return for an eighth season). On "Undertow," the team searches for a man who disappears after a late night dive. The finale will also feature Oscar winner Martin Landau reprising his role as Jack's (Anthony LaPaglia) father Frank. Poppy Montgomery's real-life boyfriend Adam Kaufman will also be back as the father of Samantha's (Montgomery) son, Finn. Elsewhere on the finale, Danny (Enrique Murciano) and Elena (Roselyn Sanchez) take their relationship to another level.

There's still no word on whether Without a Trace will be back, as it was involved in a tight race with fellow crime drama Cold Case, and CBS reportedly leaned towards Case, in light of the show's major ratings upsurge for its finale. Without a Trace, for its part, didn't do shabbily, as it also enjoyed ratings upturn on its last episode. When the smoke cleared, Cold Case was renewed Sunday, but Without a Trace is still in consideration perhaps for a midseason pickup.

When we left Without a Trace three weeks ago, a weatherman by the name of Ben Coleman started acting weird one day. He stepped out of his car, a Porsche if I remember it right, and had small talk with a woman regarding getting a car that gets great mileage. He walked in the station with a cup of coffee for the equipment manager, who was a little weirded out by the act. When he went on air to give the weather, a producer started noticing that Ben was bleeding from his abdomen. Then he walked down the hall and vanished. Needless to say, the team was called in to investigate. The probe led them to his high school and a Civil War reenactment, which should be all fun and games, until real weapons were used.

On tonight's episode of Without a Trace, a missing teenager, who was last seen with her bipolar mother, arouses the interest of the team when they find that she has a secret life. Her desperate divorced mother is suspected of kidnapping, but pretty soon they aren't so sure. Meanwhile, Jack (Anthony LaPaglia) and Sam's (Poppy Montgomery) relationship encounters a bump in the road.

CBS' Without a Trace is currently in its seventh season, with the next new episode airing on October 14. Entitled “Last Call,” the episode will follow the team as they investigate the case of a missing white-collar criminal who suddenly disappears on his way to testify against a former associate.

After two years of being in a relationship, Without A Trace star Roselyn Sanchez and Days of Our Lives alum Eric Winter finally announced their engagement. The celebrity couple got engaged while on a holiday vacation on the island of Vieques, just east of mainland Puerto Rico over the festive weekend.

The date or the location for their walk down the aisle have yet to be set but, according to Sanchez's publicist Brenda Rodriguez, the couple will be ready to go over their nuptial plans once they return to Los Angeles from their Caribbean retreat.

'Without A Trace' Star Fought with David Beckham for Charity

Anthony LaPaglia, star of the police drama series Without a Trace, took on football icon David Beckham in a soccer exhibition match aimed to help the victims of last month's wildfires in Southern California. The cherished event, which was held last Sunday, raised more than $90,000 for the casualties of the recent tragedy.

Beckham's team, LA Galaxy, went up against LaPaglia's all-star team, Hollywood United, which includes Def Leppard guitarist Viv Campbell, former Sex Pistol Paul Cook and actor Brandon Routh, who is best known for his role in Superman Returns.

CBS Explains Inaction on 'Without a Trace'

CBS airs out their side for not taking any remedial action after the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) found the crime drama series, Without a Trace, indecent back in 2006.

The FCC proposed a record $3.6 million fine against CBS and other station owners for airing an episode of Without a Trace that contained a scene of “teenage boys and girls participating in a sexual orgy” in 2004. On the other hand, the network said that it strongly disagrees with the FCC’s findings.

Anthony LaPaglia, who currently stars on Without a Trace, has just signed on to play the lead for a thriller film entitled Balibo. This marks the 48-year-old actor's first appearance in an Australian movie since his performance in the 2001 Lantana where he won an AFI Award for Best Actor.

Written by David Williamson and Robert Connolly, Balibo is described as a tense political thriller that recreates the events surrounding the murders of the Balibo Five, a group of journalists working for Australian television networks who were based in the town of Balibo in East Timor and were killed in 1975.

'Without a Trace' and 'CSI' Crossover Episodes Spoiler Alert

Previously, it was reported that this season's Without a Trace and CSI would feature crossover episodes, with CSI executive Carol Mendelsohn telling TV Guide that the story will involve a serial killer. Mendelsohn also said the story had been in their “back pocket for a couple of years” and that the crossover episodes are the product of the relationship between actors Anthony LaPaglia and William Petersen, and producer/director Danny Cannon.
