Four surgeries and three egg retrievals later, The Young and the Restless star Michelle Stafford finally arrived at the surrogate option and is now expecting a baby girl.

Stafford, 43, who plays scheming Phyllis Summers on the CBS daytime drama for which she has won two Emmy awards, has never considered being single as a hindrance from starting her own family, just like Kate Jackson, Calista Flockhart and Diane Keaton, single celebrities who adopted to become mothers. "I never wavered in my desire to be a mother," The Young and the Restless actress tells People. "But I did waiver on aspects of the process. It was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life."

It appears that the serial groom is eyeing yet another wife. Singer-songwriter Billy Joel, who just ended his four-year marriage to wife Katie Lee last month, is reportedly dating Alex Donnelley, actress best known for originating the role of Diane Jenkins on the popular daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless.

According to NY Post's Page Six, Joel met Donnelley through friends backstage while touring with Elton John at his recent Washington, D.C. concert. The actress has been visiting Joel at his home in Sag Harbor, where they go boating or ride around on Joel's custom motorcycles.

The 33-year-old actor has joined ABC's new medical drama, Defying Gravity, which revolves around eight astronauts from five countries who undertake a mysterious six-year mission through the solar system.

Another actor on the long-running daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless has reportedly walked off the set during filming. The issue doesn't revolve around money though, because this time it's about sex. Chris Engen, who plays the "straight" Adam Newman on the show, refused to kiss co-star Yani Gellman in a scene. Gellman plays the only out gay character on the show, Rafe Torres.

Since Engen was unhappy with the "dark direction" that his character is headed for, he stormed away while working on the show. He was far from pleased about the recent developments that Adam has undergone, particularly kissing another man. He may still be under contract with the soap, but they've already found a replacement for him: Veronica Mars' Michael Muhney.

Another soap vet will reportedly leave The Young and the Restless. According to Soap Opera Digest, longtime cast member Don Diamont will be departing from the daytime drama in early 2009. Nothing official has been announced at this point but an insider reports that it's a done deal and details of his character's exit are being kept under the dark.

Following his first major acting role as Carlo Forenza on Days of our Lives, Diamont joined The Young and the Restless as the opportunistic businessman Bradley Carlton in 1985. He was temporarily replaced by Russell Todd in 1993 and left the show in 1996 but returned again two years later. He became the first daytime drama actor to receive the honor of being chosen as one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world by People Magazine in 1990 and in 2006, he was voted as number 1 on the Sexiest Soap Hunks of All Time list at the Shrine to the Soap Hunks.

Last month, a rumor surfaced that a former Guiding Light star might be headed to Port Charles to play a still uncertain yet pivotal role on General Hospital. At the time, the actor was said to be Tom Pelphrey, best known for his role as Jonathan Randall, the son of Reva Shayne and her late former husband, Richard Winslow, on the CBS soap opera. After only a few episodes credited to the young actress, Erin Sanders has departed from the set of The Young and the Restless. She was best known for her geeky persona on the Emmy-nominated Zoey 101 and it seemed as though she couldn’t hold on to a more serious role on the daytime drama. Leaving her Nickelodeon show was a big decision, and it was an even heavier choice to leave The Young and the Restless.

Playing the rebellious Eden Baldwin on the said soap opera appeared to be a challenging feat for the budding actress. Sanders probably wasn’t a good fit for the role, but it was the fans who had difficulties sympathizing with the character. This led to the part being recast.

In line with this, the show is holding a screen test at the Ritz-Carlton in St. Louis, Missouri to accommodate hopefuls who would want to get a taste of the limelight while working with some of residents of Genoa City.

Women 18 to 35 years old and eligible to work in the United States are invited on Friday, November 14 in an open casting call staring at 9am until 4:30pm. Subsequently, there will be a callback for participants who will be advancing the second round the following day.

After spending the last few years working with refugees in Africa with the Doctors Without Borders Organization, Dr. Olivia Winters is slated to return temporarily to Genoa City to pick up the pieces in her family's life. In line with this, Tonya Lee Williams, the actress who originated the role in May 1990, has signed on to appear on The Young and the Restless.

During her time on The Young and the Restless, Olivia was perceived as an honest and principled woman. However, she had a lapse in judgment when her best friend, Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson), battled breast cancer.
